Cold Plasma Treatment Strategies for the Control of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. basilici in Sweet Basil

چکیده

Fusarium wilt of basil (FOB), caused by oxysporum f. sp. basilici , is an economically damaging disease field- and greenhouse-grown sweet basil. Growers have observed a resurgence FOB susceptibility in FOB-resistant cultivars. Because currently available chemical, biological, cultural control methods are costly, unsustainable, ineffective, or challenging to implement, new strategies needed. Cold plasma becoming increasingly important experimental technology the food agricultural industry for pathogen decontamination. To understand effect cold treatment on incidence severity, experiments were conducted treating mycelium, inoculated seedlings, seeds with various devices, all using helium as feed gas. Initial results indicated that while jet did not result significant reduction mean mycelial growth rate virulence pathogen, direct treatments well dielectric barrier discharge seeds, exhibit varying efficacies against FOB. Control appeared be strongly dependent exposure time plasma. These findings can aid standardization commercial seed transplant industry.

Wilt and crown rot of sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum), caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. basilici, represents a major problem on this crop, which is grown in Italy over a large area (approximately 80 ha) under glasshouse, mainly in the Riviera Ligure (5). First reported in Russia (12), F. oxysporum f. sp. basilici has been observed in Italy (6,22), France (15), the United States (1,2,7,24), an...

Genetic structure of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceri populations from chickpea in Ilam province, Iran

Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) is one of the most important legume crops in Iran. Wilt disease caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceri, is the most important soil-borne disease of chickpea in the world. This disease caused high losses in different regions during recent years. Simple sequence repeat (SSR) were used to estimate genetic diversity in 114 of F. oxysporum isolates from six counties...
